Charles Knowles - "Planting a Food Forest"

Charles Knowles is a student in the sustainable agriculture program at Maharishi University of Management. He has been an organizer in several environmental projects on campus including serving on the Green Dorm committee and helping draft a new major for the life sciences department in "sustainable living". His primary focus is to complete a permaculture "food forest", an ecosystem in which every plant provides something delicious to every being who passes by. More than 80 food-producing plants have been planted on MUM campus in an area designated for this purpose, with more being added at every eco-fair. As a dedicated guerrilla gardener he has also been involved in some covert permaculture operations that he will only speak about when he has drunk too much coffee.
