Dr. Francis Thicke - "Organic Soils"

Francis Thicke is owner/operator of Radiance Dairy, Fairfield, Iowa. Radiance is an organic, grass-based dairy that processes its milk on the farm for sales through local grocery stores and restaurants. Francis has a Ph.D. in soil fertility and has served as the National Program Leader for Soil Science for the USDA-Extension Service. He currently serves on a number of state and national boards and committees that address issues related to sustainable agriculture and food systems: the Iowa Food Policy Council, the USDA State Technical Committee, the Iowa Environmental Protection Commission, the Board of Directors of the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Education Service, the Iowa State University Extension Advisory Committee, and the National Steering Committee of the Scientific Congress on Organic Agriculture Research. Last year Francis was awarded a Food and Society Policy Fellowship, funded by the Kellogg Foundation.
